Hawk Happenings - May 2017

May 1, 2017

After 20 years in education, it never ceases to amaze me how fast the school year goes. With the end of the year also comes many priceless memories and some valuable learning experiences along the way.

This year Woodward-Granger is proud to present the Senior Class at its 2017 graduation ceremonies. This year’s class has accomplished wonderful things not only in the classroom but also on the stage, in the fields and throughout the various activities they have been a part of during their time at Woodward- Granger. Because of these accomplishments, we are looking forward to hearing more about their successes in the very near future. Please come us help celebrate this group as we honor their achievements on Sunday May 21st at 2 p.m. in the High School Gym in Woodward.

In addition to the senior class, all other Woodward- Granger students have represented themselves, their families and the district with immense confidence, pride and accomplishment. System achievement scores have once again increased and students have maintained consistent growth over time. We continue to match up achievement deficits with available resources while balancing our student growth with the values of our communities. In addition, the district maintains a 94%+ graduation rate with attendance rates for each building averaging 90% or greater.

In addition to student achievement, many kudos and thanks goes out to our community for providing the district with enough resources via bonding, voted Physical Plant and Equipment Levies and supporting the Penny State Sales Tax to help us build and maintain high quality facilities for the District. Because of this community support and backing the public school district has been able to keep ahead of the growth demands while maintaining the integrity of a class 1A/2A school district. For this support, we thank you.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to thank our staff members. These fine educators have given many hours above and beyond to assist students in a variety of different ways. For this, we cannot thank them enough.

Summer school will once again be an option for students who need the extra support. Please note that you will receive more information at the elementary and middle school levels if your child/ren qualify for these services.

Thank you for a wonderful school year, enjoy your summer and we will look forward to your return this fall.
