Hawk Happenings - September 2018

September 1, 2018

With the 2018-19 school year underway, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome all new and returning students, staff and families to Woodward- Granger Community School District.

This year the school board at their regular August meeting established and approved five clear and measureable long range goals for the District to aspire to. These goals include the following:

  1. Cultivating support that ensures strong, successful learning one student at a time. (Teaching & Learning)
  2. Growing a culture of ongoing development and retention of staff. (Staff Retention)
  3. Exploring, prioritizing, and implementing enrichment programs to meet the full range of student needs. (Enrichment)
  4. Advancing a strong community-school partnership. (Community)
  5. Proactively planning for District growth. (Infrastructure)

These goals will serve as the driving focus and accountability to enhance the overall Pk-12 education system for students and families at WG throughout the school year. The Board will be addressing these goals in some capacity throughout their meetings and encourage your feedback and participation. For a full list of annual meetings please see http://www.wghawks.school.

Helping to lead our goal-focused school year will be a new core staff of (17) seventeen certified and (14) classified staff members. We are thrilled to have these individuals as part of the Woodward-Granger family and would encourage community members and families to get to know these quality educators throughout the school year.

As with any school year there are also challenges. As a growing District our #1 priority is our students and families. We strive to earn your trust by being transparent, communicating in a variety of formats and following through on what needs to be done in the best interest of your children. We focus on student safety, a well-rounded experience for children and meeting academic needs, “one student at a time.” We kindly ask you to consider participating in our (2) two School Improvement Advisory meetings held in the fall and spring or our ELC/Elementary or MS/ HS Open forums scheduled throughout the year. We value your input and intend to continue to develop this relationship.

In closing, I would like to express to all Woodward- Granger patrons that we are extremely proud of our students, families, communities and schools. We are constantly trying to improve our practices in order to better meet our student’s needs. Please do not hesitate to contact the school with your questions, comments or concerns.

Have an outstanding school year!
